If you happen to be planning on going to Gallery Hop this weekend, make sure to check out Sole Classics from 8-10 PM (4/2). They’re having an in-store performance from Fly.Union, a hip-hop group from Columbus, to preview their new album. Fly.Union has been gaining notoriety by collaborating with big name artists like Curren$y and Big Sean, and have some die hard hometown fans. I’m sure all the cool cats from Columbus will be at the in-store, and we’ll be doing a follow-up post about Gallery Hop and such over the next week, so stay tuned.

Bruno Dragicevic
-Bruno was born in Croatia…yes that is a country in Europe.  He and his family moved to Columbus Ohio when he was 8.  He’s currently a music DJ rising in popularity in Ohio.  You can see him DJ every Tuesday at Level in the Short North Columbus.  He will be DJ’ing at 8Fest in Athens Ohio later this year.  He’s also a student at Columbus State and will be enrolling at Ohio Dominican University in the fall.  In the future Bruno would like to pursue DJ’ing as a career and one day own his own clothing business.  I asked Bruno what makes him different from others and his response was, “what makes me different is when I deal with people i try to look at the situation through their eyes. everyone has a different story, a different struggle.  I believe in standing up for the little guy, the person who cant defend themselves.”  I also asked Bruno to tell me a little bit about what he does to stay focused on his goals and how he stays positive in life.  ”The way I stay focused is reminding myself everyday where I want to be in life. failure is not an option.  The way I live a positive life is by surrounding myself with a good company of people that motivate me.”  Bruno is a smart guy who makes smart choices.  He’s focused on his goals and he’s willing to learn to get better which is something we all need to do.  Keep it up my friend.
“swag.”

The Conservatory has developed a program of world-class exhibitions by national and international artists. In addition to a wide range of educational classes and workshops for school groups, families, and individuals, Franklin Park Conservatory also provides a valuable resource through its Growing to Green program for community gardeners. With its natural surroundings, both indoors and out, the Conservatory serves as a premier venue for special events and corporate gatherings. A dynamic and multi-faceted institution, Franklin Park Conservatory is a unique and popular destination for visitors of all ages.
-In and Around Columbus
Ain’t that some adorable shit right there? I’ve got a couple girl friends who strive to have their wedding at this place. It’s crazy beautiful there. Take your girlfriend or your lonesome self to the conservatoire for a nice walk when it’s nice out; pack a picnic or some shit (doesn’t that sound like a perfect day date?). Soak up the great outdoors and maybe pick up some chicks who are into nature. Sounds like a good day to me.

You know what we really like about students of the Ohio State University?
They’re cool enough to have earned the ire of those hateful jerks from the Westboro Baptist Church.
They also come out in droves to counter the visiting hatemongers. It’s awesome. Click the photo above for more photos and video.

When we say Columbus’ Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams makes the best ice cream in America, we’re not exaggerating. Alton Brown and the Food Network have made it official.
We’re not just in love with their flavors. Though, with flavors like Salty Caramel and Queen City Cayenne, who’s to blame us? We’re also quite fond of their dedication to local… well, everything.
Too many times I’ve asked a friend to accompany me to Jeni’s for a tasty treat (my obsession with Jeni’s is unreal), and I give them that horrified look like they just told me they shoplift pregnancy tests when they say they’ve never been. You’re not from Columbus, Ohio unless you have an unhealthy obsession with Jeni’s.

www.SoleClassics.com
Columbus is slightly lacking in the availability of street style apparel, but if you’re looking to build up your sneaker/street style game, Sole Classics in the Short North is the place to go. They carry Nike, Snapbacks, G-Shocks, some GoodWoods, you name it. Also the place to get some Kingsrowe apparel if you’re a fan. I’ve also heard small rumors about them maybe picking up an Adidas account, but don’t put too much faith in that rumor yet. They throw an in-store for I think every Gallery Hop (so maybe once a month?) where they bring in some local talented DJ’s, rappers, or someone up and coming in the underground scene. Always cool to go in there and see what kind of new stuff they’ve got in stock. Plus, the people working there aren’t condescending little bastards about their sneaker knowledge like at most sneaker boutiques, they’re just chill, super friendly, and helpful.
